- The
first Independence Election were held in India 25 october 1951 to 21
february 1952, the indian national congress winning 364 of the 489 seats
and 45% of the total votes polled over four times as many as the
second-largest party.
- Jawaharlal
Nehru became the first prime minister in India, the first votes of this
election were cast in the tehsil of chini in himachal pradesh on 25
october 1951.

- The second party of that general election cpi, this party won 16 lok sabha seats.
- The 16th lok sabha elections which are due later this year are surely going to be one of the most crucial elections in recent history.
- In
2014, india will be a 67-year-old democratic country still very young
and tender, but one that has managed to stay a democratic country since
independence.
- There
is a huge pressure on india and its financial markets.Various indian
and foreign companies all over the world have already estimated their
targets for post-election period.
- Since
independence till now we have seen a total of 15 lok sabha elections
but there is something unique about the ongoing 16th lok sabha election
2014, which is for the first time witnessing the largest number of young
voters.

- The
youth of the country became a vote-bank themselves with 149.36 million
first-time voters, who constitute about 20 per cent of the electorate.
- It
also fascinating to see how indian voters view option button called
‘none of the above’ (nota) on the voting machine, which is being used
for the first time in this lok sabha election.
