nearly approach the Gods than in giving good health to men. A special day is

The observance of
the Doctors Day was on March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia, USA. Dr. Charles B.
Almond's wife, Eudora Brown Almond had decided to set aside a day to honour
physicians. The acknowledgement was done by sharing greeting cards and placing
flowers on the graves of the diseased doctors as a sign of respect.
The red
carnation was chosen as the official symbol of Doctor's
Day because of the colour of the flower is in spirit of characters of medical
profession. It represents adoration, charity, sacrifice, bravery and audacity.
In India the
Doctor's Day is celebrated on July 1. The legendary physician and the second
Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy was born on July 1, 1882 and died on the same date in 1962,
aged 80 years. Dr Roy was honoured with the country's highest civilian award,
Bharat Ratna on February 4, 1961. To commemorate Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy's
overwhelming contribution to the medical field, July 1 was declared as the
National Doctor's Day in India.
The celebrations
are indicative of the respect that they command in the lives of their patients
and thus obligate them to fulfill their responsibilities as well. It is an ocean
of medication for betterment. In today's world the most important person in
one's life is his/her doctor. He is the
one who helps in promoting, maintaining or restoring our health. He is the one
who works day in and out in order to save lives. There is no other unacquainted
person in the world that we’re more grateful to than doctors. In fact it’s hard
to imagine a world without them. No other group of people are so defined by
their profession.
Doctor's lead a
frantic lifestyle to keep us healthy. As a result they barely find any time to
take care of themselves. On this wonderful day, we should all resolve to take
care of our Doctors by wishing them good health and thanking them for their
inexplicable service to mankind.
