P Kalyanasundaram was born in Melakarivelamkulam of the Tirunelveli District,Tamil Nadu. He was taught the art of simplicity and the way of humility by his mother, as he had lost his father early at a young age. His mother was the one who implanted in him the qualities that he still possesses to this day. The boy transformed into a man when he made his first contribution to the Chief Minister Kamaraj during the Indo-China War. He gave away his gold chain in order to help the war fund. He engaged with the then Editor in Chief of 'Ananda Vikatan'Mr.Balasubramanian to speak about his contribution. Before he could speak anything Mr.Balasubramanian dismissed his contribution and denied to write anything about it, and said that he would only do so when he donates something from his own earnings. The man taking it as a challenge left quietly. He then swore to himself to lead a life for the welfare of the society. To this day he lives a bachelor and serves the society.
After his college life, he became a librarian in the Kumarkurupara Arts College at Srivaikuntam in Tuticorin District, Tamil Nadu. He developed himself as a librarian for three long decades. He always wanted to achieve something in his chosen field and asks everyone else to do the same in their respective fields. It has contributed to a number of natural disaster relief funds throughout the country. Some of them were in Tamil Nadu, Orrisa, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The Paalam provides assistance in fields of Education, Health Care, Legal Services, and in the rehabilitation of the helpless.

In his three decades as a librarian he had given away all his earnings, his pension and his ancestral property to charity. For his daily needs he did some random odd jobs to earn a meager Rs600 per month. He has even offered to donate his eyes and body to Tirunelveli Medical College. International Biographical Centre honoured him as 'One of the Noblest of the World'.

He has been the greatest Good Samaritan and the best role model to a million hearts.

Wake Up! It's Just A Dream!

During sleep the involuntarily occurrence of successive emotions, ideas, images and sensations in the mind are know as Dreams. Dreams occur during a stage know as the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of sleep. The absolute activity of the brain is high during this stage of sleep and is approximately equal to that of being awake. Sometimes dreams may also occur during other stages of sleep but these dreams are rather vivid or harder to remember.
20 things you dint know about dreams:
  • We forget 90% of the dream the moment we wake up.
  • We don't see new faces in our dreams, we see only those that we already know; they are no strangers.
  • Men have reported to have more instances of dreams with aggression than women do.
  • Women dream longer and featuring more characters.
  • Men dream as twice as more about other men than about women, whereas women dream about other men and women equally.
  • Hormonal changes during pregnancy increases both the number of dreams and the ability to recall them.

  • Children dream as much as adults do, but those who watched TV in black and white are more likely to dream in monochrome.

  • One doesn't need to be asleep to dream.
  • If you are snoring while sleeping, it is impossible to dream.
  • Those disturbing or scary dreams called as nightmares, are nothing but your fears that translate into a dramatic context.

  • Not only people with eyes, even the blind can dream.
  • Even animals can dream.

  • When we dream our body is paralyzed.
  • Some people have abnormal REM sleeping that leads to movement or jumping out while dreaming.
  • People suffering with personality disorders are unable to dream.
  • We have the ability to change and control the dream in ourselves, it is known as lucid dreaming.

  • On an average every person has about 1460 to 2190 dreams a year.
  • One can have an average of 4 to 7 dreams for about 2 to 3 hours a single night.
  • We nearly spend around 6 years of our lifetime just dreaming.
  • And we end up sleeping around 1/3rd of our lives.

OUR WOMEN! ARE THEY SAFE??

India is in the list of those countries with the highest percent of abuse against women per year. Certainly some thing that we should be ashamed of. In India, rape is one the most common crimes against women. Such cases in India have drastically increased between 1990 and 2013. There have been approximately 68,000 rape cases that were registered across the country during the years 2009-2011. Only 16,000 rapists were sentenced to prison, presenting a despondent picture of conviction such sexual offenders. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, there were 24,206 rape cases that were registered in India in 2011 but only 5,724 were convicted for the same.
Rape Protests in India

"The poor rate of conviction is primarily due to prosecution's inability to gather enough evidence against the accused following inadequate police investigation" - Home Ministry official.

To whom does a woman go to for help?
Where is the justice?
Is there anyone who is daring enough to protect and restore the safety of women?

Every single woman must put in some effort and time from their daily lives in learning a certain set of self-defense classes. These classes not only provide safety, but also administer a level of confidence in a woman; that even she has a right to walk on the streets alone during night without any fear of men. There is nothing in this world that women can't do, then why be dependent on others for one's own safety?

Here are a few tips you can follow in protecting yourself:
Preparing oneself mentally for a violent attack is not different than preparing for any other emergency and denial may cost you your life. Try to force yourself to think about what you would do if someone were attempting to rape, kidnap or rob you. By being mentally prepared, you would be less likely to freeze by the fear and inability to defend yourself if the “unthinkable” were to happen.
Just having a weapon to defend oneself from any attack is not planning. Take a real self-defense class. Practice all the techniques regularly and use a mental imaginary plan for different scenarios. Contemplating such scenarios makes one physically and mentally strong.
Always trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, then something is probably wrong. By trusting your instincts, you will be able to learn the real difference between fear and worry. It is always better to be safe than to be sorry after falling victim to an attack.

Don’t be talking on your phone or listening to your iPod when you’re alone in a public place. Always be aware of what’s going on around you. If you think someone is following you, cross the street or step into a store. If that isn’t possible, look the person straight in the face and ask what time it is. By being unafraid, you show that you will stand up for yourself and fight back if attacked.
Make yourself a harder target by controlling your accessibility, setting and circumstance. Stay in those areas where there is crowd. Walk with confidence and purpose. Don’t be distracted by looking through your purse or have your hands full of bags. Sometimes just looking like someone who is not to be messed with can deter a would-be attacker.

Your elbow is the strongest point in your body, don't be afraid to use it. If you are grounded, use your legs to kick free from your attacker. There a certain weak points where you can concentrate while defending yourself: eyes, throat, groin and knees. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch your attacker under the arm, in between the elbow and armpit or in the upper inner thigh hard as you can. You can pull the muscle away from the bone in these areas LITERALLY!

6 ESSENTIAL FOODS

Celery: This water-loaded vegetable has a reputation for being all crunch and no nutrition. But ditch that mindset because it contains stealth nutrients that can help in healing.
How to eat it: Try this low-carbohydrate, protein packed recipe for a perfect snack any time of the day. Take a bowl, mix a 125 gm of low-sodium tuna (rinsed and drained), 1 tablespoon of vinegar, 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion, 1/4 cup of finely chopped apple, 2 tablespoons of fat-free mayonnaise, and some fresh ground pepper. Then spoon the mixture into celery stalks. Makes 2 servings.
Seaweed: Seaweeds are basically of four classes namely: green, brown, red, and blue-green. They are all packed with plenty of healthy nutrients.
How to eat it: In sushi, of course. You can also buy sheets of dried seaweed at groceries. Use a coffee grinder to grind the sheets into a powder. Then use the powder as a healthy salt substitute which is in turn great for seasoning salads and soups.
Hemp Seeds: These seeds are not for smoking!! They provide many medicinal benefits.

How to eat them: Toss 2 tablespoons of the seeds into your oatmeal or stir-fry. Or add them to your post workout shake for an extra dose of muscle-building protein.
Scallops: Perhaps these mollusks are considered guilty by association, since they often appear in decadent restaurant meals that are overloaded with calories.

How to eat them: The fastest and easiest way to prepare this seafood is to sear the scallops. Sear the scallops until the bottoms are caramelized for about 2 minutes, and then flip them to sear for another 1 to 2 minutes, depending on size and thickness. Now they are ready to eat. Place them on a bed of brown rice and enjoy!!
Dark Meat: Yes, dark meat has more fat than white meat, but have you ever considered what is the actual difference? The extra fat in dark turkey or chicken meat raises your levels of cholecystokinin (CCK), a hormone that makes you feel fuller, longer.

How to eat it: Just enjoy, but be conscious of your total portion sizes. Limit yourself to 225 gm or less at any one sitting, which provides up to 423 calories. Eat that with a big serving of vegetables, and you’ll have a flavorful fat-loss meal.
Lentils: Its no surprise that these hearty legumes are very much essential for you. Boiled lentils have about 16 grams of belly-filling fiber in every cup. Cooked lentils also contain 27 % more VITAMINS per cup than cooked spinach does.

How to eat it: Use lentils as a bed for chicken, fish, or beef, they make a great substitute for rice or pasta. Pour 4 cups of chicken stock into a large pot. Add 1 cup of red or brown lentils and a half cup each of onion and carrot chunks, along with 3 teaspoons of minced garlic. Bring everything to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook the lentils until they’re tender, about 20 minutes. Remove the lentils from the heat, add a splash of red-wine vinegar, and serve.

THE DAY “BUTTER CHICKEN” STOOD ME STILL

I still remember the day when i had my first butter chicken. It was at a dinner party hosted by a couple of relatives, reason for which i am still yet to discover. That night was the one of the best nights of my life.

I was merely 11years old back then. My day started out with the daily schedule of going to school and coming back home after the classes, and then going for tuitions in the evening. I was this kid who hated chicken, dint even like eggs only for the reason that they came out of a chicken. Except the fact that i loved sea food, i was still mostly a veggie.

Now coming back to that unforgettable night, I was sitting there in one corner of the table and was trying to avoid the most hated bird of my life. After the entrees it was time for the main course. The main course was served on my plate. I couldn't recognize the dish. For once it looked like fish served with some very spicy curry. I wouldn't lie even if i wanted to, it appeared incredibly fresh with very bright vivid colours. I took a couple of parathas and started devouring this fascinating dish. After half a dozen of parathas i asked my mom what this dish was; and she replied to my shock that it was “Butter Chicken”.

It jolted me to an extent that i literally choked a good piece of chicken. I was gasping for air and my mom pulled me by my stomach from behind to release me of my agony. She said it was because of the butter that was blended with the chicken that helped me release my choking easily.

In spite of the dish nearly killing me that evening, to this day “Butter Chicken” has become my favourite dish. Today after a decade wherever i go, whichever restaurant i choose, i order butter chicken. People ask me, knowing the fact that it nearly killed me and also that chicken never being my first choice, what had changed my heart so drastically. To them i answer - “YES!! It was the chicken that sickened me at first; but then the butter in it made me a nutter about Butter Chicken”.
