Karina coming back from school noticed that a boy had stumbled upon a rock and fallen on the ground. The boy had dropped his books and a number of other things he was holding. Seeing the boy in pain Karina ran up to him and help him to pick up his things. She found out that their paths were similar so she had offered to help him by picking up some of his stuff.
On the way back, Karina found out the boy's name was Maddy, and that he had least amount of interest in studies, but loved video games, football and cricket. Also he had just got dumped by his girlfriend. On reaching Maddy's place Karina was invited to come in and hang out for a while. Both chatted, laughed and it ended to be a pleasant evening, Karina went back home.
From that day they met each other daily after school. They ended up finishing High School and College. Both were in contact with each other over the years.
On the Annual Day of College, Maddy met Karina and started to talk about the good old days. He then asked Karina “Do you remember the day when we met each other the first time?”.“Yes I do, and why were you carrying so many things?” she replied.
“All the gifts that I had given to my girlfriend were returned to me. She had left me and I was going home to kill myself. That evening with you, made me realize that if I had committed suicide I would have missed that day and the best days of my life to follow."
"But I guess it was fate that made me fall in front of you then and fall for you now. Karina, you not only helped to pick my stuff, you also saved my life.”
